充實的周末

今個周末認真充實... 竟然 3天都在旺角，變了 “MK仔”？

星期五晚下班之後到旺角，參加 “UMPC Fever 2周年” 的網聚，看到很多各式的 UMPC/MID/Netbook，同場更有華碩、HP 和 微軟介紹他們的新產品，包括華碩加 Garmin 的 新 Smartphone, HP的高清硬解 Netbook Mini 110 和微軟介紹 Windows 7，不過當晚食物一般，抽獎又抽不中...

星期六晚 HKMUD 聚會，去了同一座大厦的 7 樓一家叫 Augur 7 的樓上 cafe，這家的食物真的不錯！有 Pizza 、意大利粉、冷麵、面包等等。中間還有小插曲，就是這一座大厦是舊樓，但竟然有一家 DSC 直銷中心在，用電太多，弄至整座停了半小時電...

星期日跟老友去了旺角金都商場買結婚用品，原來結婚真的要準備很多很多的東西呢，所以有一班好朋友幫手是很重要的。

Third milestone finally

After many trials, I found that the machine architecture of MIPS/N32 is too special for packaging system. Like rpm or dpkg, they will expect a 64 bit kernel should be running 64 bit userland and when I build glibc/gcc, we should build both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

But the problem comes here, my gentoo based MIPS/N32 system is a 64 bit kernel with 32 bit (only) userland, that confuses rpm and dpkg, as it will try to build 64 bit userland (N64), 32 bit userland (O32) and native userland (N32), but at the same time my toolchain has just N32 capabilities, so we cannot directly build gcc/glibc using the Fedora 11 source.

After some changes in platform parameters in rpmbuild and add some checking in the spec file, finally I built using a new architecture - mips64el-redhat-linux, and default to just build N32 binaries of gcc/glibc, so my 3rd milestone is reached now, glibc, binutils, gcc, perl, python all ready for use. Next is rebuilding of whole userland from shell to X.org.

Google Chromium

第一次 checkout Google Chromium 瀏覽器的源碼，在我的 Gentoo 上編譯，雖然源碼解開後有近3Gb 大小，但不用一小時就編譯好了（呵，我的機器真快），跑了一下，速度不錯，比 Firefox 3.0 快，和 3.5 差不多，暫時沒有遇到大問題，除了不能用 extensions 之外。

今天晚上做了一件很有趣的事。

話說香港的 Software Freedom Day “軟件自由日” 快要到了，香港的其中一個網上電台想做一些 Podcast 來介紹開源/自由軟件，其中一個主題是“香港 open source developers” 訪談，不知就裡，就被人邀請來錄音了，第一次做 Podcast 感覺新鮮、好玩。

Visit to Huawei

Today I went to Huawei office in Shenzhen to help them install RHEV, our new virtualization product there, to let them to try and evaulate. The work are not very smooth, but finally done on schedule.
The site is VERY large, simliar to the size of Tuen Mun, and divided into different regions, like estates, and every block of building is as large as a big shopping mall like Olympian City...
Most impressive is the canteen, which has nearly 1000 seats I guess, very large indeed!

2 days of training for customer

Just finished 2 days of training for a customer, originally in chinese, but as there is an indian there, I need to conduct it in english, luckily my english is not that bad. :-)
Next mission is Shen Zhen trip to 華為 on Thursday, hope everything go smooth and I can leave on time.

今天晚上跟媽媽、妹妹、妹妹男朋友到美麗華商場地庫的 Todai 吃自助餐，這家餐廳會在八月尾關門了，最近光顧的話會有九折優惠。
食物質素不錯，有新鮮的海鮮例如龍蝦、蟹、生蠔，又有魚生、壽司等等。
環境側比較一般，因為在開放的地庫中，上面會有很多眼睛在看著。

Second milestone

Second milestone reached, glibc, binutils, python, rpm all built under Loongson using MIPS-III N32.
The Fedora environment can even boots with Gentoo kernel now!

First milestone

Fedora 11 glibc 2.10.1 RPM packages built, with help of Robert's Loongson patches.

Version same as Fedora 11 GA.


Installed successfully.


And running well.

今天晚上參加了 HKPUG 的茶聚，原來人數不少，看上去至少有30人。
試了一下 Eee PC T-91 和 Eee PC 1101HA（未推出）。


兩台的價格差不多，T-91 很輕很方便攜帶，而且有 touch screen，不過 1101HA 的續航力十分好，據說可以用10小時，而且畫面大，11吋的 16:9 畫面，近 full size 的鍵盤很吸引。


不過 1101HA 已經很接近普通 Laptop 了，如果想要一台比較像 Netbook 的機器，T-91 會比較好。



還有看到了 NOKIA N810 的上一代 N800，比較 “膠” 一點，沒有了實體鍵盤和GPS，但鏡頭可以旋轉，其他都差不多。



Palm Pre 香港不知道會不會推出呢? 有的話就好了，聽說只要 $3000多。

比較優閒的一週 vs 很忙的下一周

今周工作比較簡單，不怎樣忙，主要都是一些準備/後勤工作。
不過下周應該會忙死了，有比較大型的東西要做，還有幾個不知道幫不幫得上忙的“幫手”。

鄭融精選

今天休假，去了找朋友吃午飯，當然，順便也去 shopping 一番。
原本想看看有什麼好的二手遊戲可以買來玩，結果沒有合心意的，書店逛了一下都沒有什麼好書，結果是買了唱片，今次買的是“鄭.融精選”。



一直都覺得鄭融是那種歌曲不錯，hmm... 應該說是歌曲本身，不過總是捨不得去買她唱片的那種歌手，因為一般來說一隻碟只有約一半的歌曲比較好聽的，這樣的話，買精選碟就最好了。

不過，我最喜歡的是她的慢歌而不是跳舞歌。
