Eee PC 中的小學問 - 有關檔案系統

1. AMI BIOS
2. 開機畫面 (Grub吧)
3. 裝載（只讀） /dev/sda1 為 / 檔案系統，執行 /sbin/fastinit
4. 使用 unionfs 裝載（可寫入） /dev/sda2 為 / 檔案系統上的 overlay *
5. 開始的時候 fastinit 會載入硬體的驅動程式 (LAN, wifi 等)
6. 運行 startx, startx 會執行 icewm 和華碩自己的 GUI - AsusLauncher
7. 開機完成，大約16秒

很久以前的 Linux Live CD 都是只讀的系統，很多程式不喜歡這種限制的環境，
而且只有 650M 左右的地方放檔案，不足夠。
後來就出現了壓縮檔案系統 - squashfs，大大的壓縮比，解決了空間的問題，
可是還只是唯讀。
最後出現了一個兩全其美的解決方法 - squashfs 加上 unionfs，unionfs
的作法是把兩個分割區或者檔案系統堆叠(stack)在一起，有任何寫入/刪除
的動作都做在最後 stack 上去的檔案系統，因此 Live CD 可以用 squashfs
做底層，再用記憶體做 RAM Disk 放上面，模擬一個“正常”的檔案系統給
Live 操作系統用了。
在 Eee PC 上，華碩運用了這個原理做出可以隨時還完的方法，就是把預設的
系統都放到 sda1 上，裝載成唯讀（就像Live CD），再把 sda2 堆叠上去
成可寫入，那麼無論用戶怎樣玩死這個系統，sda1也是原來的樣子，所謂
還原只是把 sda2 重新格式化就行了。
華碩這個設計真聰明！

When Eee PC meets RHEL 5

Of course I have not install RHEL 5 on it yet, but at least it can be used as presentation notebook!

好事成雙

今天和媽媽妹妹在吉之島吃晚飯。
吃飯之前在 3 的店看見有 Love Planet 舊機換新機計劃，可以用很低的價錢用舊機換購新機。
吃飽了之後決定去 3 問一下，結果是要簽21個月的合約，預繳 $1500, 舊機賣了 $240, 最後實際新機價是 $240 而已，很便宜呢！
我的新手機是 Sony Ericsson 的 W660i, 送 512M 的 M2 記憶卡，又可以聽歌, 收音機, 還有2M Pixels 的相機。

ASUS Eee PC!

Finally got it today! $2998 in 國美.

Although it only got 4G storage and 512M RAM, the respond speed is not slow,
and given that it has wifi, I can use it to work online in many places.

All hardware inside works fine, including camera, card reader, suspending,
brightness, volume control, video out, suitable for presentation as well.

The weight is nearly nothing, under 1kg including battery.

But it is quite hot, about 45'C I think.

我自己原本也是 Linux 用家， 所以考慮都沒考慮就跑去買Eee PC了，
因為公司的 Txxxxpad 太重了啦！ 出外工作簡直是負擔， 現在用
Eee PC 就方便得多了， 而我自己要用的程式都已經有了， 也不用想
去改裝什麼。 電腦本該就是這樣的啦。
我覺得這 Eee PC 買回來之後應該嘗試學習一下 Linux 這個不同的系統，
雖然開始時會有些許的不習慣， 但其實要用的功能都大同小異啊，
即然買了就給它一個機會吧。

ASUS Eee PC ordered

律政英雄（HERO）

今天晚上和Gi去看了律政英雄。
原來的電視劇大約在年多前在TVB播過吧? 我也不清楚了，因為在電視播時我一集也沒有看。
不過前個星期TVB播出了其中一個短故事（也是電影版吧?）的律政英雄，我看過後又覺得不錯，所以剛好有朋友說想看電影，就去看了。
今次的故事是說檢控官木村拓栽遇到一單簡單的殺人案，疑兇都招認了，但突然又不能順利判罪，因為這個疑兇剛好是另一宗案件的時間證人。
另一宗案件就大了，是有關某大官員的貪污案，他買通了一些時間證人證明自己不在場，但其中一個竟然就是木村這宗“小案件”的被告，而案發地點是他不應該在這時間可出現的地方，因此如果這疑兇入罪，貪污案便沒有了時間證人了。
而木村就和對方的大律師一方面鬥法，一方面令這“敵人”明白什麼是檢控官應有的態度。
劇情幾好，好像在看日刻一樣，雖然有130分鐘，但都沒有冷場，比其他片子好看多了。
看電影後去了shopping, 當然不是我買東西啦，哈哈哈，我是魔鬼~

Can not install Ubuntu 7.10

My home desktop equipped with a Initio SATA adapter.
Only a few Linux distributions support it, including Ubuntu 7.04.
I am using Gentoo on it, as the kernel is customizable, it supports my desktop too.
Today I want to try install Ubuntu 7.10 for testing, but it is so strange that it cannot find my hard disk for installation.
After dmesg and modprobe, I found that the sata_inic162x is disabled by Ubuntu, not by any configuration but the module itself stop from initializing an "unstable" adapter...
No luck today yet.

Wanna get one, although the hardware specification is quite low, but it is a nice baby to bring everywhere and do simple tasks like email/web.

Dinner with old friends

今天晚上約了舊同事到 apm 吃飯。
剛好 Claudia 生日，順道替她慶祝生日。
ROMA ROMA 的食物不錯，份量也很足夠，
甜品美味，值得一試。
最後七個人共吃了 820 左右，都不算貴啊，
還有機會見見幾年沒見的 Patrick!

旺角和油麻地之旅

今日和媽媽妹妹去了奧海城食午餐，媽終於可以嚐到了正式的魚湯米線，我的泡飯等了超級長時間才有，不過都很好吃，然後我們在奧海城逛了個多小時。
後來原定直接回家，不過記得媽說過她以前住在油麻地，就順道去了油麻地行一下。
30 年了，她只記得自己住在新填地街，金山樓，找著找著，終於行到九龍地鐵站附近，找到了！
她一到附近就開始認得路，自己找到自己住的那一座。老人家果然對很久之前的事特別有印象。

C+偵探

今晚和中學同學到旺角GV看電影，看的是郭富城的“C＋偵探”，原本以為是很普通的鬼片，因為是彭氏兄弟，還有舊同事提過少少劇情。
看著看著，都猜到這件案子真正的兇手是誰，但想不到到結局時，他竟然不是兇手，全部人也是因為良心過意不去而殺人／產生幻覺去自殺。
看完之後，今天發現原來故事還未完，出了字幕之後才是真正的結局。
真正的結局，原來跟我想的一樣，還以為自己猜錯了，真的被彭先生耍了兩次。

影片"結束"後，電影字幕出現，剪輯，音效，攝影等。觀衆也基本散場，有一些頑固份子依然停留在電影院，或許他們想連着看下一場，至少我是這樣想的，反正不要多付錢，結果我是幸運的，30秒之後，字幕的最後一行字是“影片尚未結束，迷底正在揭開”,剩下的人都傻了，原來彭氏兄弟所說的意想不到的結局竟然跟離場的觀衆開了一個天大的玩笑。

于是鏡頭回到一個垃圾筒，有人把那張照片丢進了垃圾筒,數秒之後，這張照片被又被拾了起來。C+盯着照片眼睛露出了惶恐的表情，因爲他以爲案情終結了，丢了那個該死的證物，可是在他丢照片的瞬間無意掃了一眼，發現照片上幾個人後面的桌上放着一支鋼筆，這支鋼筆是C+當時送給警察阿澤的，(影片裏有一個談鋼筆的小細節是大家忽略的)由于一些特殊原因使這支鋼筆具有唯一識别性。于是一幕一幕鏡頭一一閃現，原來警察阿澤有一個會模仿别人筆記的特長，于是莫彗心案發現場當晚，阿澤先給幾位同謀模仿了莫慧心的簽名，然後就出去放風了，這種嚴謹的殺人過程是要裏應外合的，而莫慧心死後阿澤叫他們幾個處理屍體就由于緊急事件被招回了警局，他做夢也沒有想到那幾個人會把屍體抛在C+所墜入的垃圾場.自己給自己扇了狠狠的一巴掌。

影片還交代了阿澤爲了兒子的病迫不得已去賭博，還借了還不起的高利貸，雙眼人阿雄和高利貸有關系（C+當時跟蹤雙眼人的地方就是黑道地下組織）于是，阿澤在走投無入的時候找C+先還點錢暫時付利息，但阿澤知道這點錢是遠遠不夠的，迫不得已才協作雙眼人阿雄以警察的思維策劃莫慧心的恐怖殺人計劃。C+回想起當時他被雙眼人挾持的時候好像雙眼人共@@2007-04-17，是因爲細榮知道是警察阿澤要殺他。C+整個人都呆了，于是影片又回放了阿澤和阿雄的幾次在事情暴露前與暴露後的對話，事情終于在觀衆面前真相大白了。原來阿澤也是爲了錢殺人的漏網共犯,而後他卻在事情敗露後掌控了整個過程。

于是C+偷偷潛入阿澤家，當他推開阿澤家卧室的瞬間，他驚呆了，這次的C+表情讓觀衆都吓了一跳，沒有人知道他看到了什麽？似乎比死亡還要恐怖的事情發生了，C+拿出了他的相機，鏡頭就此靜止，剩下幾個電影院裏的人都傻眼了。這次的電影字幕沒有了冗長的幕後工作人員名單，隻有兩個字，"劇終"

我想，彭順這次不是赢在劇情，而是赢在他開的玩笑把大部份離場的觀衆都耍了。原來這就是彭順所說的，“結局是大家意想不到的”

Meeting the god

Today Michael Tiemann, the god of open source, has come to Hong Kong to have visit.
I met him in the morning in office, he sit near me and borrowed my laptop to make the slides for presentation.
And we went to Poly University, Department of Computing to have a talk on open source software.
The speech is nice and there was respond too.
After that we took bus back to Causeway Bay to have lunch, not like the other US guy, he like chinese food (點心) and we all full.
He got some phone interview after lunch and then will leave Hong Kong tomorrow. Of course, we grabbed the chance to take a photo with him. :-)

Home desktop crashed again

SGI xfs is a good filesystem for database.
But if it got problem, it is nearly no way to fix.
My home desktop crashed several times recently by unproper shutdown, I found there is some error messages in booting. To prevent further problem, I tried to check and repair it (xfs), but after some "repairing", the problem even worst.
Finally I need to reinstall whole gentoo, it will takes 2 days to compile I think. In these 2 days I cannot use it yet. Poor.
But good news is that my /home partition has no problem and I changed all filesystem back to ext3 now, ext3 is slow but at least more well proved to work fine in most case.

Use a bluetooth phone to connect to internet in Linux

How to use a Bluetooth phone as modem in Linux

Basically several steps:
1. Kernel must support bluetooth and ppp, wvdail and bluez-utils must be installed
2. Turn on the bluetooth function in the phone
3. Use "hcitool scan" to scan for the phone, get the hardware address
4. Use "rfcomm bind xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" to pair up with the phone
5. Search dailup support by "sdptool search DUN"
6. If it can be searched, put login information in /etc/wvdial.conf
7. Content of wvdial.conf

Baud = 115200
SetVolume = 0
Dial Command = ATDT

很久之前玩過的一隻遊戲, 生化危機 (Biohazard) 的電影版.
頭兩集也沒有機會去看, 今集去看了.
很多熟悉的名字, Claire, Alice, Carlos, 生化狗, 變了怪物的博士.
很刺激, 比沉悶的"色戒"好看很多.

色戒

今天打算和 Josephine & Claudia 慶祝快來到的生日, 和 Johnny & 富約了他們一齊去旺角的周記避風塘吃飯.

吃飯之前和 Josephine & Johnny 到百老匯看李安的"色戒" (應該這樣寫吧: 戒|色)!
整套戲的劇情都很可惜, 很灰.
抗日期間, 一個農村出身, 到䕘南大學唸書的女生 - 王佳芝, 參加了劇社, 演出愛國劇.
可是劇社的人覺得, 無論愛國劇有多大反應, 多大迴響, 始終不能令中國得救, 於是便想找計策去接近一個漢奸 - 易先生, 殺死一個漢奸比上演再多的愛國劇都有效得多.
王佳芝便變成了麥太太接近易先生, 更因此出賣了自己肉體, 成了易先生的情婦, 希望趁機殺死他, 可惜不久易先生便要回上海, 始終找不到機會下手.
三年後, 王佳芝到了上海, 發現原來劇社的人真的變了抗日分子, 易先生地位高了, 更難殺, 她再遇上了他們, 繼續三年前的計劃.
易先生位高權重, 但是事事提防, 心靈空虛, 佳芝的出現, 令他心動, 最終他和她關係變成情侣, 當各抗日分子找到機會想殺易先生的時候, 佳芝竟然被易先生打動, 反而救了他一命.
最後當然所有劇社的人都難逃被處決的命運... 但是易先生在殺死他們之後, 又再一次變回一個空虛寂寞的人.

Happy birthday to Anita

It should be 1st of October, but it is still ok for a birthday dinner with my old friend Anita.
Tonight we had a dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui, PizzaExpress, I thought it should be similar to Pizza Hut but it is not, they only provide pizza, spaghetti and cakes, and it is not cheap... haha... But the food are all very nice! Forgot to take photo! Happy birthday to Anita!

今晚原本係同Gi & FK 在銅鑼灣食飯, 不過因為 FK 不能食韓國野, 改了去跑馬地熟食中心食大排檔, 我地去了嫦記, 果度的翅好似幾出名, 我地3人叫了2盅, 又真係幾好喎, 食食下差不多放煙花, 當然, 我地冇出返去灣仔睇啦, 我地去左附近的滿屋甜品食糖水. 食食下見到個天變色, 望下, 竟然見到煙花! 估唔到入到跑馬地都會睇到煙花... 哈哈!!
